Pavement & Patio Repairs by Knightscapes

Pavement & Patio Repairs

When the existing drive, path or patio mostly works but a section has failed, we'd rather repair than upsell a full rebuild - re-jointing, re-levelling, patching and repointing done properly.

  • Tarmac pothole and edge patches
  • Block paving re-jointing and re-laying of sunken sections
  • Slab re-levelling on shifted patios and paths
  • Repointing on flagstone and natural-stone paving
  • Trip-hazard pavement repairs on shared frontages
  • Sub-base rebuilds where surface repair alone won't last
Block Paving Driveways by Knightscapes

Block Paving Driveways

Block paving is our recommended finish where the driveway needs to handle turning cars, look tidy from the road, and last more than a decade without sinking. Every job is a full sub-base rebuild - not a re-lay on the old sand.

  • Marshalls, Brett and Tobermore ranges
  • Full 150-250mm Type 1 sub-base
  • Concrete-bedded edge courses and soldier line
  • Permeable sub-base options for SuDS
  • Kilned jointing sand and plate compaction
  • Old drive strip out and disposal
Resin Driveways by Knightscapes

Resin Driveways

Resin-bound driveways look sharp, drain freely and don't shed loose stone. The finish is only as good as what sits under it, so we treat the base as the real job and the resin coat as the finish.

  • UV-stable clear resin over kiln-dried aggregate
  • Permeable Type 3 open-graded sub-base
  • Overlay onto sound existing tarmac or concrete
  • Range of aggregates - Autumn Quartz, Bali Bronze, silver birch
  • SUDS-compliant surface with no run-off issues
  • Full base rebuild where existing drive is failing
Gravel Driveways by Knightscapes

Gravel Driveways

Gravel done well looks fantastic on a period frontage - and done badly, it ends up in the gutter. We always lay gravel over a plastic honeycomb grid so cars don't rut the stone or push it onto the pavement.

  • Nidagravel or Gravelfix stabilising grid
  • Choice of 10-20mm decorative aggregates
  • Steel, timber or stone edge restraints
  • Permeable membrane and Type 3 sub-base
  • Wheelchair and pushchair friendly finish
  • Old surface removal where required
Driveway Cleaning & Restoration by Knightscapes

Driveway Cleaning & Restoration

A tired block-paved drive rarely needs replacing - it just needs a proper clean, joint re-sanding and, if you want, a sealer to keep it that way. We do the whole job in a day for most drives.

  • Rotary flat-surface cleaner (no zebra stripes)
  • Weed and moss treatment before wash
  • Sunken block relay and repair before re-sanding
  • Kilned polymeric jointing sand
  • Optional water-based sealer, matt or satin finish
  • Patio, path and step cleaning on the same visit
Concrete Post & Gravel Board Fencing by Knightscapes

Concrete Post & Gravel Board Fencing

Concrete posts and gravel boards outlast timber posts by 15-20 years and won't rot at ground level. Combined with a treated timber panel or close-board infill, it's the boundary system we recommend to almost every long-term homeowner.

  • Slotted concrete posts, cement-set
  • Rock-faced or plain concrete gravel boards
  • Overlap, close-board or feather-edge panel infill
  • Heights from 3ft to 6ft plus trellis top
  • Existing fence and post strip-out
  • Corner and end-post detailing
Close-Board Fencing by Knightscapes

Close-Board Fencing

Close-board is the strongest domestic timber fence you can buy because it's built rail-by-rail on site, not slotted together as a pre-made panel. Individual feather-edge boards can be swapped years later without dismantling the whole run.

  • Feather-edge treated boards overlapping 20mm
  • Two or three horizontal rails per bay
  • Concrete or timber posts
  • Gravel board at ground level
  • Heights from 4ft to 6ft plus optional trellis top
  • Matching gates and gate hardware
Commercial & Security Fencing by Knightscapes

Commercial & Security Fencing

For sites that need a fence rated to keep people (or livestock) in or out, the specification changes completely. We install commercial-grade timber, weld-mesh, palisade and acoustic systems for schools, industrial units, sports clubs and community sites.

  • Weld-mesh security fencing to 3m height
  • Steel palisade with anti-climb finials
  • Timber acoustic barriers for boundary noise
  • Automated sliding and swing gates
  • Site hoardings and temporary fencing
  • £5m public liability, CSCS-carded fitters
Fence Repair & Panel Replacement by Knightscapes

Fence Repair & Panel Replacement

Not every fence problem needs a full replacement. Where two or three panels have blown out or a single post has snapped, we can repair in a day and match the existing run so the fix isn't obvious.

  • Individual panel replacement to match existing
  • Snapped concrete or timber post extraction
  • Concrete repair spurs where the base of a post has rotted
  • Leaning-fence resets after ground movement
  • Gate re-hanging and post reset
  • Same-week response for storm damage
Aluminium Gate Repairs by Knightscapes

Aluminium Gate Repairs

Aluminium driveway gates fail differently to timber - it's almost never the gate leaf itself, it's the hinges, the hinge post foundation, or the motor. We service, re-hang and repair aluminium gates so you get the gate you originally bought back working rather than replacing the whole set.

  • Dropped or dragging gate re-hangs
  • Hinge and pivot pin replacement
  • Sagging hinge-post reset in concrete
  • Motor, photocell and safety-edge fixes
  • Remote fob and keypad re-programming
  • Powder-coat touch-up on scuffed leaves
Security Fencing by Knightscapes

Security Fencing

Security fencing is bought against a risk, not a look. Whether the driver is plant theft from a yard, unauthorised access to a substation compound, or a school safeguarding line, the specification starts with height, climb resistance and how the perimeter behaves at gates and corners. We survey the site, write the spec down, and install around your working hours so the compound is never left open overnight.

  • Weld mesh perimeters from 1.8m to 3.0m in 358 (anti-climb) and standard twin-wire profiles
  • Steel palisade to 3.0m with triple-point or round-top pales
  • Anti-climb toppings: rotating spikes, barbed extension arms and mesh returns
  • Concrete-set posts with hand-dug holes where buried services are live
  • Manual and automated sliding, swing and cantilever gates with access control
  • £5m public liability and £10m employers liability, CSCS-carded fitters, RAMS before mobilisation
Palisade Fencing by Knightscapes

Palisade Fencing

Steel palisade remains the default hard perimeter for yards, depots and industrial units because it resists attack with hand tools far better than mesh and reads as a deterrent from the road. The detail that matters is the pale: profile, height, gauge and top finish decide both how hard the fence is to defeat and how it looks to a neighbour or a planning officer. We specify all of it in writing before anyone digs.

  • W-section pales for maximum rigidity on high-risk yards and depots
  • D-section pales where a lighter, cleaner line suits car parks and school boundaries
  • Heights from 1.8m to 3.0m, with 2.4m the common commercial standard
  • Triple-point, round-top and notched-top pale finishes
  • Bolted or riveted rails, concrete-set posts, and matched single or double-leaf gates
  • £5m public liability and £10m employers liability, CSCS-carded fitters, RAMS before mobilisation
Weld Mesh Fencing by Knightscapes

Weld Mesh Fencing

Weld mesh is the perimeter a facilities manager buys when the site is already covered by cameras. The narrow apertures give nothing to a boot or a finger, and the fence stays transparent so a guard or a camera can see a person approaching the line rather than only the top of a head. We survey, write the mesh profile and post centres down, then install without leaving a section open overnight.

  • 358 mesh with 76.2mm x 12.7mm apertures, the standard anti-climb specification
  • Twin wire 868 and 656 panels where budget matters more than tool resistance
  • Heights from 1.8m to 3.0m with mesh returns or rotating toppings
  • Post options: RHS bolt down for hardstanding, concrete set for soft ground
  • Powder coated RAL 6005 green or RAL 9005 black over hot dip galvanising
  • £5m public liability and £10m employers liability, RAMS issued before mobilisation
Bow Top & Vertical Bar Fencing by Knightscapes

Bow Top & Vertical Bar Fencing

Bow top and vertical bar railings are specified where the perimeter has to be safe to be near, not just hard to cross. Schools, nurseries, play areas and housing schemes all need a line that cannot trap a head, does not present a spike at child height, and still looks like part of the landscape rather than a compound. That balance is a design decision, so we start with who stands next to the fence rather than with a price per metre.

  • Bow top railings with looped, spike free heads for nurseries, schools and play areas
  • Vertical bar railings with flat or blunt tops for parks, estates and public realm
  • Infill spacing set to avoid head and limb entrapment on child facing boundaries
  • Heights from 0.9m boundary marking to 2.4m school perimeter lines
  • Galvanised then polyester powder coated in RAL or BS colours to a landscape scheme
  • £5m public liability, DBS checked supervision available for live school sites
Acoustic Fencing by Knightscapes

Acoustic Fencing

An acoustic barrier only works if it has mass and no gaps. That is the whole engineering story, and it is why a standard lap panel fence does nothing for noise. We build acoustic lines from dense tongue and groove timber or composite panels with sealed joints, a closed base detail and posts sized for the wind load a solid barrier attracts. Typical drivers are a planning condition, a plant or chiller enclosure, or a residential boundary against a working yard.

  • Tongue and groove timber panels at 25kg to 35kg per square metre for genuine mass
  • Composite and reflective faced panels where maintenance access is limited
  • Sealed joints and a closed base detail because a 5 percent gap undoes the barrier
  • Heights from 1.8m to 4.0m with steel posts sized for solid panel wind loading
  • Absorptive faces on the noise source side where reflection would move the problem
  • £5m public liability and £10m employers liability, RAMS issued before mobilisation
Estate Fencing by Knightscapes

Estate Fencing

Estate fencing is the opposite brief to a security perimeter. Nobody is trying to keep a thief out; the job is to mark a boundary across open ground, contain stock or horses, and disappear into the landscape while doing it. Long runs, uneven ground and gateways for machinery are the real challenges, so we set out the line first and price the run against ground conditions rather than a flat metre rate.

  • Traditional three and four rail post and rail in pressure treated softwood or oak
  • Steel estate railings with a slim profile that reads as almost invisible at distance
  • Stock netting and horse safe mesh additions where animals are contained
  • Driven or dug posts depending on ground, with strainers at ends, corners and gateways
  • Field gates from 6ft to 16ft with heavy duty hanging posts set properly
  • Fully insured with a written workmanship guarantee on every run
Commercial Gates & Automation by Knightscapes

Commercial Gates & Automation

A gate is the part of a perimeter that moves, so it is the part that fails, and it is also the only part covered by machinery safety law once it is powered. Cantilever, tracked sliding and swing leaves each suit a different site geometry, and the right answer usually comes down to the swept path of your largest vehicle and how much run back space exists behind the opening. Every automated gate we install is force tested and handed over with a Declaration of Conformity.

  • Cantilever sliding gates where a ground track would foul drainage or be damaged by HGVs
  • Tracked sliding gates for wide openings with level, well drained hardstanding
  • Single and double swing leaves with underground or ram operators
  • Access control: keypads, fobs, intercoms, ANPR and integration with existing systems
  • Safety edges, photocells, force testing and a Declaration of Conformity on every automated gate
  • £5m public liability and £10m employers liability, plus planned maintenance visits
Garden Fence Panels by Knightscapes

Garden Fence Panels

Most people ring us about fence panels for one of three reasons: a panel blew out in the last storm, the neighbour's dog is getting through, or the whole run has gone grey and wobbly and the garden looks tired because of it. It is a domestic job with domestic concerns, so this page is about panel styles, who owns which side, what it costs and how we get materials down a side alley without wrecking your borders.

  • Overlap, feather edge, closeboard and slatted panel styles
  • Concrete posts and gravel boards so timber never sits in wet soil
  • Like for like single panel replacements as well as full run rebuilds
  • Old panels, posts and concrete taken away the same day
  • Trellis tops, planting friendly heights and matching pedestrian gates
  • Fully insured, tidy fitters and a written guarantee on every run
